Why "Open Hands"?
Hands that are open are both receptive and giving.  When we're young, someone might say "close your eyes and open your hands" in order to give us a present.  During a bodywork treatment, you give the therapist your trust, and your body gives the therapist messages about how it wants to be treated.  "Open hands" represents the therapist humbly receiving these "presents" to use them for your highest good.
 
 Who is Open Hands Muscular Therapy?
Open Hands Muscular Therapy is the business of Ellen Duff, LMT.  Ellen has been offering massage and bodywork and client education since 1995.  She began Open Hands Muscular Therapy in 2007, working out of the office of Dr. Deborah Ravinski in Manomet.  Since 2010, Open Hands Muscular Therapy has been located at 2277 State Rd., Cedarville (Plymouth).
 
Who gives the treatments?
Ellen Duff, LMT offers Muscular Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, and Reiki treatments as a combination or as separate treatments.  Each of these treatment types, or "modalities" as the jargon goes, can reduce muscle tension and increase circulation.  Together, our goal is to determine the best combination of treatment types for whatever is going on for you.

Ellen Duff, LMT is a 1995 graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute (now Cortiva Institute).  She has practiced in Kingston and Manomet/Plymouth since 1995.  In 1999 she added Reiki to her offerings, becoming a Reiki Master Teacher with Valerie Voner in 2004.  In 2002 she began her training in Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute; she has taken Craniosacral Therapy I and II as well as Somatoemotional Release I.
Ellen also teaches Massage, Kinesiology, and Business Practices for Massage Therapists at Cape Cod Community College.  Ellen is licensed by the State of Massachusetts, and has been a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 1995.
In addition to her speciaties of Craniosacral and Reiki,  Ellen has also taken advanced trainings in common injuries (sprained ankles, tennis elbow, whiplash); in myofascial release; in Zero Balancing; in ear candling; and in reflexology.  While she is not certified in any of these areas, she can incorporate parts of these techniques into your treatment.  Ellen has also worked with the chiropractic patients of Dr. Ravinski since 1995 to develop specific treatment plans for many injuries.
